The South by Southwest® (SXSW®) Conference and Festivals announced the premiere of Academy Award winner, Kevin Willmott’s latest film, The 24th, screening as part of its ‘Narrative Spotlight’ slate. The film was executive produced by Red Thread’s Tony Grazia, who also served as Second Unit Director.
The production tapped Red Thread’s Director of Post Production, Jeff Ertz, to supervise the post production at its New York based post facility.
The 24th is based on the harrowing true story of the all-black 24th U.S. Infantry during the Houston riots of 1917, which led to the largest murder trial in American History. It features searing performances from Trai Byers, Aja Naomi King and Mykelti Williamson. “I was honored and thankful that I was able to work with such an incredible group of people on such an important story,” says Ertz.
In addition to its state-of-the-art edit studios, Red Thread’s facility offers the latest remote collaboration software to allow for a seamless real-time workflow between anyone, anywhere in the world. “It would have been difficult to meet our rigorous schedule without our digital collaboration capabilities,” says Ertz.
The project was edited in Red Thread’s facility from June to December. Ertz emphasizes that throughout the process, “We were able to give the team a nice place to call home.”
The 24th will premiere on Sunday, March 15th in Austin.
